I acknowledge that I have read the guidelines for the PHM paint grant included with this application and agree to all of the terms and conditions contained in the grant guidelines. I agree that any contractors which I hire for this project will agree to the terms and conditions of the grant guidelines. I acknowledge that Preserve Historic Missoula (PHM) is merely granting funds in connection with the project, and that PHM is not responsible for satisfactory performance of the work or payment for the same beyond the grant approved by PHM. I acknowledge that I am solely responsible for selecting any contractors hired in connection with the project and in requiring satisfactory performance by such contractor. I agree to indemnify and hold harmless PHM against losses, costs, damages, expenses and liabilities of any nature directly or indirectly resulting from or arising out of or relating to PHM’s acceptance, consideration, approval, or disapproval of this application and the issuance or non-issuance of a grant.

Preserve Historic Missoula Paint Grant Guidelines
1. Eligibility
To be eligible for the PHM Paint Grant, a property must meet the following qualifications:
* The property must be within Missoula County.
* The property must be at least fifty years of age or older.
* The property must be a contributing property in a historic district or on the city’s list of individual historic properties. Contact the City Historic Preservation Officer for documentation that your property is contributing or individually listed in a historic district in Missoula.
2. Grant requirements
* The grantee will be responsible for appropriate paint removal, surface preparation, and other procedures. Grantee may consult Preservation Brief 10: Exterior Paint Problems on Historic Woodwork for guidance in appropriate procedures.
* Paint and primer must be purchased from Turner Paints and be selected from the Historical Colors Collection. An account will be set up for the grant recipient at Turner Paints. Turner Paints has agreed to give the grant recipient the contractors’ discount- typically 30%-35% for paints.

* The grant funds must be expended within one year from the date of the grant.
3. PHM involvement
* PHM will be allowed to view the exterior of an applicant’s property, by appointment with applicant.
* PHM participation in the project will be limited to grant funding and consultation on colors or techniques
* Choice of paint materials/colors: Roger Moss and Gail Caskey-Winkler, Century of Color and Exterior Decoration for American Buildings, 1820-1920 are two sources for choosing appropriate colors. Preserve Historic Missoula can assist applicants in the process of choosing colors.
* PHM reserves the right to publicize the award and its recipient on its website and in other media.
* Grant Recipient agrees to post a yard sign about project sponsorship by Preserve Historic Missoula and Turner Paints. Sign will be provided by Preserve Historic Missoula and will be displayed in yard for duration of project. Recipient is also encouraged to promote project through social media.
