Third Preserve Historic Missoula Night: Saving the Past, Sharing the Future
PHM Board of Directors
Preserve Historic Missoula presented its annual Preserve Historic Missoula Night on the evening of February 25, 2012 at Heritage Hall, Fort Missoula. This event was focused on learning more about historic preservation in Western Montana, mingling with others who shared similar interests, and supported PHM.
Our keynote speaker was Allan Mathews, who talked about the ghost town of Garnet, its history, and its historic connections to Missoula. Mathews is writing a book about Garnet and drew from his research in this presentation. Our second speaker was Mitzi Rossillon of Butte, who did a presentation on the work of Butte CPR (Citizens for Preservation and Revitalization). The group, which formed in 1994, has been very successful in expanding the role of historic preservation in Butte and in 2009 won a national award for their advocacy.
